Strengthening the initiatives of local development actors
Partnership, a key concept
Since its beginnings, CCFD's essential priority has been to enable concerned populations to take charge of their own destiny and to choose their own paths in accord with their own vision of development.
Hence, CCFD has always supported local partners engaged in activities adapted to their own context and needs, which often depend on their own social environments. They know their own needs and they also understand the best ways of building appropriate relationships with socially and humanly fragile or even politically exposed sectors of the community.
Faithful to this vision, CCFD has a policy of not sending expatriate staff or material overseas nor does it maintain local offices in other countries.
Building networks of development activists
CCFD also seeks to support development workers and activists in other ways by providing opportunities to broaden their horizons, and to build alliances capable of influencing the priorities of policy makers. It achieves this goal by promoting network building among CCFD partners.
Priority themes
CCFD has chosen six fundamental thematic fields in its endeavours to promote social transformation and to reinforce the concept of global citizenship:
- Conflict prevention and resolution
- Food sovereignty
- Building a social and solidarity based economy
- International migrations
- Sharing of financial wealth
- Evolution of gender relations for greater equality
